Question:What is the offset (the distance between the backboard and the pole)?
Answer:With multiple adjustments in height the distance from face of pole to face of backboard varies as such: at 10' (full height) it is about 13"; at 9' it is about 21"; at 8' it is about 20". There are height adjustments from 7.5' to 10' in 6" increments. Hope this helps.

Answer:At 10’ this distance would be 15.25”.
Question:Can this backboard be mounted on an existing 3.5” pole?
Answer:This system comes with a pole. It is a 3.5 inch round pole.
Question:Does this come with the mounting kit (metal plate & bolts) or is it simply just the pole?
Answer:Not sure what you mean by "mounting kit." This item, #71525, comes with three pole sections, the bottom one of which is cemented directly into the ground, the backboard, hoop, net, and lift kit. It comes with all necessary screws, nuts, and bolts to put it together.
That being said, it does NOT come with a "ground sleeve" kit, which is a separate, short metal pole section with a metal plate and single bolt, which some people like so that they can take the pole OUT of the ground at will simply by loosening the bolt. I did buy the ground sleeve section separately, and it comes with the metal plate and bolt.

Only had the hoop for a week, but the quality for the price is second to none. I was super impressed with the directions--VERY easy to follow. Took me about 6 hours solo--but I'm the least handy person you'll meet. Could likely cut time in half if you have a few people on it. Kids will be NBA ready soon.. 😜

Basic install, nice look, solid feel. When installing err on the side of being too high, as it must have sunk into the concrete more than planned and doesn’t quite reach 10 ft at the rim.

I was a bit skeptical buying an in-ground hoop that was so cheap. But the Lifetime brand has a good rep. Setup was easy, instructions are easy to follow. I setup the hoop in about 3.5 hours, including the time to install the base in concrete. 6 bags of quickrete. I set this up solo, which for the most part is no big deal. Just went slow lifting whole thing up. You should probably have one other person for the last step, lifting the whole assembly onto the bottom pole. It is pretty heavy and bulky. Other than that, pretty easy install by myself. The setup feels pretty solid, plays nice. It's not a heavy glass style backboard, obviously, but doesn't rattle or shake much. The rim feels solid as well. The lifting mechanism makes lifting between 7.5 and 10 feet a cinch--one handed. Overall, very happy with this hoop. The quality feels and looks great.

Nice basketball hoop!! I was able to do the entire installation by myself. From the hole, cement, and assembly. Now I just have to have some good weather to get the kids out. I did final assembly in the back of my truck and then backed up to the cemented in post to fit it all together. Two people would be nice but it can be done with one.

First ordering here was easy and the hoop arrived a day early. Day one, one person, 1.5 hours spent unpacking and assembling poles, and poles to base. Then review of instructions. Day two, one person, 4 hours, complete assembly. Instructions are clear, all parts are in labeled bags. The hardest part was attaching The support poles (4) for the backboard to the pole attached to the base. I basically used my truck bed and a saw horse to make this work out. It would have probably taken much less time to assemble had I had a second set of hands. All parts-every piece was included. I would concur that some of the bolts should be a Grade better, only because I like to over do. I am pleased with the purchase and would highly recommend this product.
